Anti-Aging Secrets

Laughter, Fun, Excitement, Adventure these are all highly underutilized fountains of youth. Trying something new and learning something new can revitalize your spirit and keep your mind fresh. Imagine what would happen if you added a moment of childish fun to your day for the rest of the week. What would happen if you extended it to a month? A year? The rest of your life? Whoever said laughter is the best medicine was onto something. The Mayo clinic reports that there are health benefits to laughter. When you laugh it actually induces physical changes in your body. Laughter can:

  • Enhance your intake of oxygen-rich air stimulating your heart, lungs, and muscles.
  • Increase endorphins released by your brain.
  • Help you relax.
  • Lift your spirit.
  • Positive thinking releases neuropeptides that help fight stress and may help fight illnesses.
  • Laughter may ease pain by causing the body to produce its own natural painkillers.
  • A positive attitude can increase your adaptive skills.

Have you ever hit your funny bone and laughed? It hurts but most people laugh when they do it. Perhaps it is our natural instinct to laugh when we feel some pain. Our bodies and mind naturally know the laughter is helpful. So how do you use laughter as preventative medicine? The answer is to make it part of your everyday life.
