How I Cured My Cystic Chin Acne

I’m sure my story sounds like so many others. I started breaking out at age 32. I didn’t break out as a teenager. I eat clean. I live clean. Blah, blah, blah. You aren’t here to learn about my sob story, you are here to learn how I finally got rid of my cystic chin acne. Now I will say that this is the last time you will hear me say the “a” word. I had to say it there and in the title so that you could find me. Part of my treatment includes eliminating that word from my vocabulary and if you choose to follow my plan it will be part of your plan too.

Things I Tried That Didn’t Work

I’m assuming that if you are at this point that you may have tried some things too. We are all different so if you find that you have tried some of these things without luck, it is possible that our chemistry is similar enough that my system might work for you too. Admittedly not everything I tried was holistic. Though I try to be as organic as possible I’m simply not 100% organic. Please don’t judge me. My first line of defense was the system by Dr. Murad. Though the system did temporarily reduce some of my age spots it did not reduce my chin friends. Then I tried glycolic peels, microdermibrasion, salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide and facials. Not at the same time of course, just trying to shorten the story. I decided to go with a more simple plan so I purchased a glycolic based cleanser from Whole Foods and Rosehip Oil. All of a sudden I went from having the chin of a teenager to having the face of a teenager. It was anti-progressive to say the least. It took several weeks of using the same cleanser with a moisturizing sunscreen for my face to return to a simple chin problem. Then I tried the same cleanser and added in the Neutrogena Pore Refining Toner. This once again made things worse. I got small painful bumps all over my face right away. Then I tried Salt Caves.

Of all the treatments I tried, I had the best luck with the simple glycolic based cleaner and a retinol but still my face looked like it did in the picture above and overall my skin was getting worse. My pores were getting bigger, my skin discolored, and I was getting fine lines. It seemed like I was getting the short end of the skin stick. I was about to try Nerium based upon the recommendation of a friend but the reviews of toxicity scared me to death. I broke down and decided something had to change and the biggest change had to come from the inside. This is what I did.

My Plan For Getting Rid of Chin Acne

1. Remove the A word from your vocabulary. Stop talking about it, stop googling it, stop thinking it.

2. As you wash your face at night sing this song to the tune of Frère Jacques.

Clear and Beautiful, Clear and Beautiful
I Can Have, I Can Have
Clear and Beautiful Skin, Clear and Beautiful Skin
Yes I Can, Yes I Can

3. Eliminate candy, cookies and added sugar from your diet. ESPECIALLY around the times you breakout. I love cake. I love cookies. I do. I do. However, I love have clear skin more. Whenever I am tempted, I think about the results I have had with my skin and I resist. After awhile as your body rids itself of the sugar addiction it becomes easier and easier. There are moments when I am weak like the time I got a cookie cake for Mother’s Day. Yes a DOUBLE DEVIL! I implemented a 3 bite rule. I portioned off three bites, savored each one, and then stopped. Oddly enough after so long without sugar those 3 bites hurt my stomach and made me want sugar even less.

4. Replace two snacks per week with cold pressed low cal vegetable juice. Look for a juice that list healthy vegetables as the first few ingredients as fruit will be very high in sugar. For example “Green Kale, Parsley, Baby Spinach, Broccoli, Cucumber, Lemon” would be a better choice than “Apples, Pineapples, Parsley, Fresh Mint, Baby Spinach, Broccoli, Cucumber, Kale, Fresh Ginger”. Even though the second list has more veggies listed, the first has less fruit and veggies listed first. The first 5 ingredients are the most important.

Face Washing Routine

Keep in mind that your skin takes 4 weeks to totally renew. My skin actually looked great after day one, then a week later it looked horrible. I pushed through with the plan and am happy to report that I have been friend free for three months AND I get compliments on my skin!!!!!!!!!

AM

1. Wash with this gentle cleanser. Just use a pea sized amount. It has aloe vera to reduce redness and alfalfa extract to help prevent breakouts. It also has borage extract which helps your skin balance excess oil production.

2. Use the Exfoderm Forte to help your skin cells renew. Again I use a pea sized amount on my face and my neck.

3. I use this light weight moisturizer. I use a pea sized amount on my face, neck, and chest.

4. Finally I end this with a facial SPF. I hope you are already using an SPF for your face. If so, use that so long as it does not aggravate your skin. I just use a Neutrogena Oil Free SPF 30 that I got at the drugstore.

PM

1. Washing with the SAME face wash from step 1 above.

2. Follow this with this gentle toner. Apply it with clean cotton pads and rub over your face and neck.

2.5 Two times per week I apply tretinoin at night. You can try one from the drugstore or ask your doctor for a perscription.

3. Finally I use this light weight moisturizer. I use a pea sized amount on my face, neck, and chest.

Here is my four week treatment photo. I zoomed in so you could see. I still have a scar but they are fading and I’m not getting any new ones! I also want you to see the reduction in pore size around my nose after four weeks.

So there you have it! For me this was the trick. Is it the cheapest trick? No, but it works. Also, the bottles last a really long time. You just use a pea sized amount so they should last for months. I’ve been going for months and have not run out yet. If you try the plan, let me know how it goes by commenting below.
